Welcome to my turn on the Fat Quarter Shop 2013 Mystery Designer Block of the Month blog hop! I'm so happy you are here. I'm a big fan of the FQS Block of the month program and would certainly recommend trying it out if you haven't so far!
This year, Fat Quarter Shop is
using Avalon by Fig Tree Quilts for their annual Designer Mystery quilt. The
fabric is light, a little whimsical and grounded with a bit of navy, which
you’ll find peppered through the quilt. For a little treat, you will receive a
MINI Charm Pack of Avalon with the first month’s block! A taste of the fabric
before the club kicks into full gear. Each of the twelve sampler blocks is
designed by a different Moda designer and feature rows of baskets, stars,
flowers and houses.
Each month
you’ll receive lots of fabric and lovely instructions to complete that month’s
block. The quilt is suited for everyone, from beginners to seasoned
quilters.
The club is almost half full
now, so sign up before spots run out!
I was actually lucky enough to test the Vintage Modern block of the month in 2012 and had the best time making it! I was so impressed with Kimberly's attention to detail and how well all the blocks came together.
It was hard to pick my favorite block.
They were all so fun to make!
I wish I could show you
the whole thing, but I don't want to spoil it for you.
This time around, we were asked to design a star block. And, because of that, we were asked to tell you about our favorite star. I tried really hard to come up with someone who was cooler and certainly more current, but I'd still have to say
Donny Osmond.
Yep, after all these years. Still feeling that puppy love. (So cool, right?) A few years ago Camille and I went to a Donny and Marie show for our birthday and we had the best time! Maybe a little too much fun.
I had always wanted to see Donny in concert as a teenager and never did.
Now I can cross that off my bucket list.
For our friend Nadine, we carried around a Nadine head on a stick and took pictures with Donny (Hi Nadine - she is a big Donny fan too). And believe it or not,
no alcohol was involved. ;-)
Donny
was amazing! Marie was okay too.
So put your favorite Donny Osmond record on
the record player and get out your rotary cutters. It's time for another Fat Quarter Shop Block of the Month. I can't wait to join you!
Oh, and Fat Quarter Shop is having a give a way so head on over and enter. Make sure you stop by and visit Camille, V & Co. and Kate today for more star fun!
I'm a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll, what about you?
Bonnie
I use to watch Donnie and Marie all the time. Nice to go down Memory Lane. I have joined up for this Mystery already and I am doing Vintage Modern.Love it

ReplyDeleteVenho de um País da América do Sul,Brasil.Venha conhecer o Samba.Bençãos.
ReplyDeleteI remember well the Donnie and Marie show --- I was busy raising babies, but enjoyed their music. Thanks for the peek at the blocks.
ReplyDeleteI bet it would be a fun concert. I enjoyed both Donny and Marie when they were on Dancing with the Stars.
ReplyDeleteThose Donny pictures are hilarious, you all dressed and primped and made up, like you're going to get called up on stage, and Camille, just the opposite, too funny!
ReplyDeleteOh I just loved seeing Donnie and Marie at the Flamingo in LV!!! I had to drag my hubby to see the show and now he brags that it was one of the best shows we've seen! Man oh man he still has the moves!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the look of the mystery block!
ReplyDeleteThe mystery block is lovely!
ReplyDeleteAs for Donnie...well, I didn't have many teen crushes, but Donnie was sure one of them!
:o)
I was so in love with Donny Osmond from the time I was about 5 until he got married! My Mom took me to see the Osmonds once at the Hilton...I think it was my 10th birthday! Also, the Osmonds used to attend our ward when they were in Las Vegas performing...that was always a special treat.
ReplyDeleteI liked him too when I was a teenager but David Cassidy really was it for me :) Looking foward to the mystery quilt!
ReplyDeletelol! Love Donny! My mother went and saw Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat during his last run of performances before his nephew (?) took over. I grew up watching their show. So fun!
ReplyDeleteI just came your way from the Fat Quarter Shop Mystery quilt hop. I just wanted to let you know that your new fabric line is on the top of my wish list!! The blues and the oranges and all the fresh colors: Oh My!!! And I love your post about Donny!! I loved their show when I was a teen-ager, and I did get to go to an Osmonds concert at BYU in the early 80's. It was great (even from the VERY last row in the bleacher seats of the Marriot center)!! I still have the Osmonds greatest hits double ALBUM! :-D So glad you finally got to go see him. :-)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to that fabric!! You're a great designer!! Hugs from Helen in Healdsburg
How many pairs of purple socks do you own? LOL
ReplyDeleteAre you SURE there was no alcohol(wine counts)??
