Oh, what do you do in the Summertime?

It's been a very busy summer so far this year with lots of unexpected things and lots of our favorite summer activities.  To start off, the end of April our youngest son Ryan, graduated with his Masters Degree from BYU.

So proud of him!

But then he and his wife, Breanna and their sweet little girl, Lyla, headed off to Texas.

Way to far away for grandma...we really miss them.

In June, we had a visit from Camille with her family and had a fun Birthday celebration...

...the boys on the front steps of our house....and a weekend away at the Cabin doing some site seeing, relaxing and water skiing.

Yes, that's my husband and I am pretty impressed he can still ski like that.

At the end of June, we welcomed a new grand baby, 3 weeks early, Dane, and then had

our 4th of July celebration and official Olaveson Family Reunion.  So much to do and not near enough time, but we were so glad to spend some time together at the Cabin and lake. I wish everyone could have been there, hopefully next year.

Between celebrating lots of summer birthdays,
holidays,
spending as much time as possible with my grand kids...

... and my treatments, I have had some time to cut up a few more tiny bolts, baby kits, crochet, sew, and work on lots of projects. This is my latest project that I can't wait to work on this weekend, granny squares. I will keep you posted with my progress on that.

I have another grand baby due to arrive in a few months so I just finished the binding on her quilt this week. She is also getting a little anxious to come early and I thought I better be prepared.

So whats your summer like?  Lots of sewing or lots or family time?  Hopefully a little of both!
Bonnie

  1. So many cute pictures you have such a gorgous family!
I've just watched Camille's craftsy class ... love it! And there's a lot of sewing on my summer time schedule.
And since everyone except me (even my cats) celebrates his or hers birthday in summer there'll be a lot of family time, too.
    Hope you're fine, Hugs Hildy

  9. Nice family. It looks like a nice boat. We have had ours for many years and my grandkids recently came with us boating. It made me cry. The 2nd generation in our boat. I am sure my hubby could still ski but with his size and a V6 it will not pull him out of the water!! I am visiting my grandchildren in Texas right now! And yes, them being so far away from me in CA. is very hard. I can understand how you feel. Thanks for the opportunity to share. jlblvn@gmail.com

  10. Hi Bonnie, it looks like a great summer doing lots of fun things. So which ones are your children? I know there's Camille and Ryan, but that you have 5. Who are their other brothers and sisters? Is Camille next up from Ryan? And who's having a baby soon? No one looks pregnant! I hope your treatments are going well and that you are feeling good.

  11. The title of your post made me smile...in part because what I'm doing this summer is work on a quilt sampler in colors of red, yellow, and blue. I'll bet you know what song I sing as I sew. That's right! "The Primary colors are 1, 2, 3, red, yellow, and blue..." Some things stay with us always, don't they?

Thanks for sharing your summer photos with us.

  18. Not much sewing, but lots of family time :) By the end of August we will have four new grand-babies this year! SO much fun. It really hit home when you mentioned a son and daughter-in-law moving to TX. Our oldest daughter and son-in-law lived there for a few years, but this year we were fortunate to have them move back to Idaho! You will have to Skype a lot :)
