Summer Sewing

When summer finally rolls around here in Idaho, we just have to enjoy it, because it doesn't last long. I don't know about you, but every summer I have a hard time fitting everything in. There is still so much work to do, a yard to take care of, gardens to water and berries to pick.

Family reunions to go to, hot dogs to roast and bikes to ride.

My husband teaches at BYU-Idaho, which is a University here, and he has 7 weeks off each summer.   I try to spend as much time with him and our family during that time as possible.

We took a drive to West Yellowstone one day with some of our children and grandchildren. Lucky for us it isn't that far away. (We even saw a bear!)

We love to spend time with our family at our cabin on the lake. As you can see the kids like it too.

I like to ride the tube with the little ones because they go more MY speed.

It is such a beautiful place to be and so relaxing. I can totally forget about all the things I should be doing at home.

It's so great just to sit on the porch and look at the view.  Next week will be our Olaveson reunion at the cabin and I can't wait to gather everyone from Texas, Nevada, Utah and here in Idaho for lots more boating, hot dog roasting and relaxing!

I decided that there was way to much to do when I got home from the cabin, so this summer I was going to do some summer sewing there.  I have been busy working on some designs that will be released this fall, but it hardly seems like work when I am sewing and looking out our big windows over the lake.

As you can see this project has lots of half square triangles.

And can I say again, I love sewing with Marmalade!

Hope you are all having a great summer and able to fit in all you want to do and a little time for sewing too!

  7. Have fun!!! I adore Idaho so much!! We lived in Las Vegas for almost 5 years on the Air Force base, and then got stationed up in WA state on the western side, do we have seen the beauty of that area. Yellowstone is next on our list of places to see. But we live very far from there! Love your sewing project--looks fun!

I am just getting ready to start making Orange Marmalade for the shop. Course I only have the layer cakes so far, but that is enough to get started.

  9. Oh, your cabins is gorgeous! It looks so peaceful and relaxing there. And I love sewing with Marmalade too. I was just looking (today) at a quilt top I have that needs to be quilted. The fabrics are Marmalade (I feel so lucky to have gotten a layer cake from Moda!) It's for my next pattern and I am just in LOVE with all of the prints and colors. Great job on another fabulous fabric line!
