Welcome Moda Blog Hoppers!

Today is my day to share my quilt block and recipe for the Moda Blog Hop, but before I do, I want to show you a picture of my new Bed Runner that is appearing in Quilt Magazine this month! 


I wasn't going to blog about it until next week, because the magazine won't be available until then, but I got permission to give you a sneek peek.  (This is only part of the article)  They did a fabulous job on the feature and I just couldn't resist sharing.  

The Bed Runner is called Spring Fling and is made with RUBY charm squares.




I rarely do kits, but we do have the kit for Spring Fling available now on our web site.  We have also just added Ruby Charm Squares!



Now down to business, this Moda Blog Hop is our way of saying "Thank you" to all of you and to give each of you a gift from each of us. 



Just let me say, from the bottom of my heart, I so APPRECIATE the wonderful words of encouragement and kindness you give.  They really mean a lot!


My block is called Raspberry Jelly and is very simple.  You can download the instructions and the recipe here.  It would be quick and easy to stitch a few blocks together to make a hand made gift for someone you love this Christmas. 

 My recipe is one of my favorite cakes.  It is called Very Fat Fudge Cake and is worth every calorie, besides we don't count calories at our house in December.  It's just not allowed.


I love it with pecans, but if you would rather, you can sprinkle it with mini choclate chips, coconut or toffee bits.  They are ALL good!

    I don't mean to sound like a copycat, but I picked out my Christmas cards the other day and JOY is the only word on the front. Later that evening I was babysitting my grandsons, age 3 & 1, and was teaching them the song, "Joy, Joy, Joy down in my heart". We decided that was a good Christmas song!

    Your cake looks delicious and fairly simple. I never see a bundt cake and not think of one of my favorite movies, My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

    Mine is "Crazy-Mess." It's what my toddler--the youngest of nine-- says as she looks around the house at the decorations and the signs of crafting. It took awhile for me not to be a little concerned and maybe insulted. Then, I realized that she is saying "Christmas." But I'll never hear it quite the same way again:-).

    My favourite word is RED, well Ruby actually, because I got an early Christmas gift a couple weeks ago. A new Janome Horizon 7700. If you are familiar with the machine you will know why I call her Ruby; so a Ruby bed runner kit would be the icing on the cake! That cake looks awesome!

    my favorite word, especially at Christmas time, is peace. it's something i'm constantly seeking and i find i have to cling to the moments of peace i get. but the older i get, the more i realize that peace is more than just quiet, it's being content with my inadequacies and working to improve without being my own worst enemy.

I so love Christmastime!!! :-) My favorite Christmas word this year would be Sparkle! :-) Not only for the beautiful twinkling, sparkling ornaments on the tree, but for the sparkle in my little granddaughter's eyes when she is looking at it!     My favorite word this year is a toss up between Peace and Giving. Peace from spending the holiday with my own little family and being able to fully pay attention to the real meaning of Christmas and giving because I always feel so much better when I take this time of year to serve as much as possible.     My favorite word this year at Christmas is Ho Ho Ho. My little 18 month old granddaughter is just learning to talk and it is so fun to hear her say Ho! Ho! Ho! We're still working on adding the Merry Christmas. That may have to wait till next year.

    My favorite Christmas word this year is Emmanuel, "God with us." This word helps me to remember that we celebrate Christmas because the tiny baby Jesus, who is our Emmanuel.
